SUE RALSTON

Artists can be inspired by many things and my inspiration is nature. Being an avid gardener, both plant and animal lover, I don't just set out to draw my subject, I set out to sincerely know my subject. Watching plants through all stages of their growing season, the interaction between them, the animals, and insects helps me to get a clearer picture of these amazing complex species. Whether it's watching bees pollinate, butterflies laying eggs, birds building nests, or maybe just plants spreading and walking across the garden, it is these unique features and characteristics that I try to capture and share in my artwork.

Sue is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and a Master Gardener. She has been in the art profession for over 25 years and teaches children's art classes. For more information visit her website at,
